Mayor Benjamin Magalong announced the cancellation of Panagbenga events in a press conference on March 9 due to the increasing number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in the country.

The suspension of the famous Baguio night market was also immediately implemented. The 14-day suspension started on  March 10 and is expected to resume on the 24th.

"Para sa akin ok lang naman, para sa kapakanan ng lahat yung precaution. Two weeks lang naman," a night market vendor who has a stall in Sky World said.

(For me, it is okay, the precaution is for the welfare of all. Anyway, it is just two weeks.)

"For the safety of the consumers and for the safety of the vendors, that is a precaution which I think is okay," the vendor added.

Another vendor expressed her sentiment and said, "14 days lang naman ‘yan. Babalik din ‘yan. Tiis tiis lang."

(It is just fourteen days. It will resume again. Patience is needed.)

Along with this, the Cordillera Administrative Region Athletic Association (CARAA) meet and Sunday Session Road pedestrianization were also postponed because of COVID-19.

On the other hand, all events of the much-awaited Panagbenga Festival were cancelled.

As of March 11, the Department of Health (DOH) has recorded a total of 46 confirmed COVID-19 cases in the Philippines.
