CSS concluded College Week through Culmination Night

Champion of the CSS Performance Competition, the Management Economics Society, with the Management Economics Block


The College of Social Sciences (CSS) concluded their college week activities through a Culmination Night at the CSS Courtyard, March 6, 2020.


A performance competition by different academic organizations of the college was showcased. Prizes & awards were also given to the winners of the different activities held during the week-long event.


The program started with a National Anthem led by Tinig Amianan, followed by the opening remarks of CSS representative, Gabriel Siscar. Siscar emphasized the role of the College of Social Science in relation to the event’s theme Konsensya ng Bayan, Pag-aralan ang Lipunan, Paglingkuranang Sambayanan.


“Importante na ang mga theory na natututunan natin sa ating mga pasilidad ay inaapply natin sa mga totoong nangayayari saating lipunan.”


(It is important to apply the theories that we have learned in our facilities to the actual situation of our society.)



Performing organizations were also invited to render intermission numbers.


The Integrated Students In Psychology (ISIP) performed a Shadow Play interpretation of a song. Spoken Poetry was the piece from the Politically Inclined Students (POLIS).


The Management Economics Society, together with the Management Economic Block, performed an allegorical play portraying the politics in the Philippines. Meanwhile, the UP Kalipunan ng Mag-aaral sa Kasaysayan (KAMALAYAN) and UPB Philosophy Circle did a short talk segment as an introductory to their main performance which they claimed as an allegorical play.


Before ending the night, prizes were given to the winners of the different activities. Amiel Jethro Cortez, Kaizeil Ison, Clint Bassig, and Shiela Samoza were given notebooks as winners of the “Question of the Day” booth.


For the Sokscientist Quizbee,the first prize worth 1000 PHP was awarded to Airenz Austin Murao, Amiel Jethro Cortez, Mark Bryan Patalod and Alvin Jhon Abril.


As for the main event, the CSS Performance Competition, 3rd place was awarded to UP KAMALAYAN and UPB Philosophy Circle, they received 2 containers of snacks.


Meanwhile, the 2ndplace was given to UP ISIP with a 700 PHP prize. The night's main prize of 1200 PHP was awarded to The Management Economics Society and the Management Economics Block.


Steph Bacordo, the CSS representative Spokesperson expressed her gratitude to the people who made the event possible. She reiterated the theme of the event and the role of Social Science in the society and ended her speech with a statement,

“So Soksay, please do not forget that we are CSS, we are Soksay and we are Supreme.”
